Ink here is a wild paint horse; rescued by his now owner who loves and respects him ❤️ I loved every minute I spent with him - as I’m sure you all know by my constant reposting of there page #istandwithwildhorses @freewildhorses is a great non profit raising awareness for America’s wild herds that need our protection and advocation! If all you can do is sign petitions and spread the word to help them, that is enough. To live in reciprocity... In mindful knowing of what your out put is everyday, using less, giving more attention and gratitude to that which makes our lives easier yet making the effort to protect our lands, freedoms, and wild animals of all kind…. little steps lead to big change. @darlinswimwear x @kylemacvisuals

RG x @freewildhorses as Today is National Public Lands Day, celebrating the magnificent landscape that is home to our nation’s beloved wild horses and burros. The conservation of our public lands, and the wildlife that inhabit them, is a proud statement of what Americans care about and our desire to protect what’s wild, free … and vulnerable. A century and a half ago, the U.S. supported almost two billion acres of public lands. Today, that number has been reduced to 640 million acres. Along with this dwindling of the public landscape is the systematic elimination of space for America’s wild horses and burros, which now inhabit less than 27 million acres of public lands in ten Western states. Worse, the federal government is determined to shrink wild horse and burro habitat and population numbers further, while giving 97 percent of those lands – your lands – to the commercial livestock industry for cattle and sheep grazing that we, the taxpayers, subsidize. In short, with 64,000 wild horses removed from those lands and held in captivity – at a cost to taxpayers that could approach $1 billion dollars over 5 years - America’s wild horses and burros are in crisis. There is a better way to manage our nation’s wild horses and burros on public lands where they belong – www.keepwildhorseswild.com. We are deeply grateful for the support we receive, every day, to speak for and act on their behalf, and to advocate for real solutions to maintain a thriving wild horse and burro populations in the West. On this National Public Lands Day, we hope you will have the opportunity to venture out and enjoy the beauty and splendor of our public lands and the wild horses and burros that grace them. Early mornings are always worth a sunrise spent in awe … Im beyond grateful for this land this community and spending moments with this beautiful mustang kitty who’s been gentled by an amazing woman. She’s so kind this girl🐴 and thank you to the sanctuary and Brandi. I love you all for what you do in this world. It’s inspiring💌 More reciprocity in the way we live, is what I hope for. More thoughtfulness to details, deeper breaths more present moments. Knowing that each action has a reaction. An energetic vibrancy we can tune into the land and become one with all. In gratitude, Only take what is needed. Grow your food for buy it from your community. Buy from artist. Be an artist. Wild mustangs need our voices. These sentient beings deserve to live wild and free…. there’s plenty of land for all to Roam … it’s wild to me how many people don’t even know that round ups are happening, or why… #freewildhorses Drop out of your mind and into your heart. Adventures out West at @blueskyauberge as chronicled by @freewildhorses ambassador @kaitlynn: “@aubergeresorts never disappoints. Amidst moving to a new home that’s under renovation with a toddler and newborn, I was a little overwhelmed setting off to this private retreat in the Wasatch Mountains, but also looking forward to the potential distraction and calm. Boy, did The Lodge at Blue Sky deliver. The Camp Auberge family-centered itinerary put the best of Utah at our fingertips with so much to do and discover.” #AlwaysAuberge

LOSING THEIR FREEDOM While here in the US we are enjoying our holiday celebrating our country’s manifest—if fragile—liberties, these beautiful symbols of the American West lost theirs this week. On July 1, the Bureau of Land Management kicked off its biggest roundup of the summer on public lands, in North Lander, Wyoming. An observer on behalf of our partner @freewildhorses was on the ground to witness the horrific harassment by helicopter and removal of 383 wild horses, including 76 small foals, part of a four-week operation that will remove more than 2,700 horses before the end of July. She observed overcrowding and panic in pens holding almost 400 horses and foals unable to keep pace with adult horses. One of those captured was confirmed to be Elvis (image 2), an iconic and majestic grey stallion who was beautifully photographed by @kimerleecurylphotography after an unexpectedly close encounter. The BLM is charged with protecting these wild horses, yet what they are doing is in violation of its own laws. Under the Free Roaming Wild Horses and Burros Act of 1971, the BLM is prohibited from taking wild horses off of public lands, except under extreme circumstances where the horses are considered “excess.” This calculation is based on false math, including the inclusion of foals. In reality, the policy is a tragic cycle of round-up, remove, store in holding pens—all at great cost to tax-payers. As these brutal helicopter roundups continue, families will be broken apart, thousands of innocent animals will lose their freedom, and many will be injured or killed. There are proven, humane alternatives to managing wild horse populations. It is up to all of us to speak up for these voiceless creatures and the land they live on. For more info see link in bio. As we celebrate the independence of our country this weekend, one of our national symbols of freedom are currently losing their freedom in the most cruel manner. There is absolutely no reason for our country to be spending hundreds of millions of tax payer dollars a year for the cattle industry to round up our Wild Mustangs and sell them to slaughter in Mexico. Wild Horses helped us build this country- it is our duty to keep them wild. Please visit @freewildhorses for more information on how to help! 🤍

BRINGING the WILD HOME Jenni Kayne x AWHC x Kimerlee Curyl A month ago, @freewildhorses held an event to raise funds for our Red Desert lawsuit at the exquisite Los Angeles home of one of my all-time favorite designers, @jennikaynehome , together with @staceygoschin . Jenni has been the driving force in capturing the clean lines and casual luxury of the modern California lifestyle. Her minimalist approach to design aligns with my feeling and tone in expressing the beauty of our wild horses. Jenni also has become an ambassador for AWHC and the wild horse issue. The day was filled with raising awareness to a new audience in the influencer, fashion, and finance worlds, inspiring conversations about the future of our wild horses and burros. Jenni Kayne has also unveiled a new candle called WEST, a celebration of nature featuring earthy notes of juniper, cassis, and sage. The captivating scent of this candle takes me back to the desert and reminds me of sleeping under the same stars with our wild horses. Ten dollars from each candle purchase will benefit the American Wild Horse Campaigns efforts to keep wild horses free. Join me... I could not be more honored to announce, that on June 17th, in collaboration with Jenni Kayne, my work will be featured in her home and lifestyle stores in Montecito, California, Soho, New York, and Westport, Connecticut. Also on this day, from 2 to 6 pm, there will be a “meet the artist” (Me🥰)event at the Montecito,CA location. I will be there to talk about the work and the issue, with wine poured by my friends from @dafoe_wines . If you are in the area please join me and the wonderful JK team, its never a bad day for a trip to coastal Santa Barbara, CA🐴🌤🍷. This is an opportunity to incorporate the majesty and serenity of wild horses as a design element into your everyday life at home--bringing the WILD to you. Ten percent of sales will benefit AWHC🐴. “Great Divide Basin” will one of the pieces available.

my most recent trip with @freewildhorses only further drove home the point that we aren’t doing enough to protect America’s wild horses. did you know that each year, thousands of horses are barbarically rounded up from America’s public lands (meaning land that YOU pay for with expensive helicopters that YOU pay for), are separated from their babies and families, sent to tiny holding pens and adopted out to people who often eventually ship them to slaughter facilities? NONE of this is necessary. there’s a better (and cheaper) way!!! follow @freewildhorses to learn how you can help change this! they’ve got lots of simple suggestions for how you can make a difference. note: the horses in these images all reside at a wild horse sanctuary in northern CA. they’re safe due to the generosity of @freedomreignsequines, and that’s a wonderful thing, but thousands more like them face round-ups and death every day and for no good reason. we can, and must, stop this.
