This past Saturday, September 13, AWHC joined thousands of animal lovers in Salt Lake City, Utah for a day of fun, humane education, and delicious vegan food at the annual VegFest. Hosted by the Utah Animal Rights Coalition, VegFest brings the community together to learn about protecting animals, reducing our ecological footprint, and supporting local green businesses.

AWHC’s Tandin Chapman (Utah Conservation Operations Manager) and I spent the day at our booth sharing the story of America’s wild horses and burros. From explaining the challenges they face in Utah to talking about how folks can take action, we had countless meaningful conversations with people who were genuinely excited to learn more and get involved.

The energy of the event was inspiring, everywhere you turned people were connecting over compassion and new ideas for protection of animals and the planet. And of course, no VegFest recap is complete without a few personal highlights: meeting a very adorable and friendly pig and ending the day with vegan ice cream for dinner.

We left VegFest feeling energized and grateful, not only for the chance to represent wild horses and burros in such a passionate community, but also for the reminder that every conversation helps build a bigger movement for change. Thank you to the Utah Animal Rights Coalition for hosting such an impactful event and to everyone who stopped by to chat with us!

We are already excited to return next year!
