BLM Targets Over 3,400 Wild Horses for Removal from Range Over Next Four Months

Editor's note: The tentative fall/winter roundup schedule reveals thatBLMis targeting 3,400 wild horses for roundup and removal from the range. This comes at a time when theBLMacknowledges that its long-term holding facilities are filled up and when the agency isunder firefor selling captured wild horses to a man known to haul horses from the U.S. to Mexico for slaughter. The capture of these horses will boost the captive wild horse and burro holding population to over 50,000 — a number that far exceeds the number of wild horses and burros left in the wild.
