Confusion HMA Wild Horse Roundup Reports

Welcome to our roundup reporting page for the Confusion Herd Management Area in western Utah, where you will find eyewitness reports, photographs, and videos from the field as the Bureau of Land Management carries out a helicopter roundup.

Scheduled from August 23 through August 31, the BLM plans to capture and permanently remove approximately 360 wild horses from the Confusion HMA. No horses are currently scheduled to receive fertility control or be returned to the range as part of the operation.

The roundup follows several other major removals scheduled across Nevada, Colorado, and Utah during the same period, making Confusion part of a much broader roundup season affecting thousands of wild horses across the West.

We hope these reports bring greater transparency to the removal, inspire public awareness, and strengthen the call for humane, science-based management that keeps America’s wild horses where they belong: free on the range.

AWHC does not have an observer at the Confusion HMA roundup happening in Utah, and BLM only allowed observation August 24-29, 2026. BLM’s operation plans to remove 360 horses from their home. The captured horses will be sent to Sutherland Off-Range Contract Wild Horse Facility in Delta, Utah.
