The Twin Peaks Herd Management Area (HMA)

The Twin Peaks Herd Management Area (HMA) spans 798,000 acres and is dedicated to the management of wild horses and burros.

How to get there:

The Twin Peaks HMA is located approximately 25 miles northeast of Susanville, CA. Highway 395 borders the HMA to the west. The area is situated in both Lassen County, CA, and Washoe County, NV.

About the burros:

There are between 72 to 116 burros in this HMA. They are mostly black and brown, with some grays. These burros typically range between 11-12 hands and weigh between 400-600 pounds.
