Last night, the U.S.Senatepassed their Fiscal Year 2018 Budget Resolution, which they intend to use to help them pass tax reform in the coming months. However, this budget framework hasno effecton the Fiscal Year 2018 appropriations bills that are threatening the future of wild horses and burros—this fight will continue.

TheSenatemust still pass a funding billfor the Interior Department, and we will continue working to ensure a provision that prohibits slaughtering wild horses and burros is included.

We anticipate aSenatehearing on the bill in the next several weeks that will be crucial to wild horses. A small but powerful lobby, who wants to use public lands for only their benefit, has been pressuring senators to allow the BLM to remove and slaughter wild horses, but we can stop them.
