Long live wild horses.This is the essence of the American Wild Horse Conservation (formerly American Wild Horse Preservation Campaign), which advocates for keeping horses alive and free, preventing them from facing slaughter in the American West.

However, wild horse populations grow relatively quickly, prompting federal managers to consider various options to manage herd numbers effectively.

The American Wild Horse Conservation opposes slaughter and the captivity of horses, particularly when removing animals from the range seems to favor private cattle herds.
